Pool Architekten

The exhibition of Pool Architekten at ETH Zurich. Pool Architekten is one of the most promising young architects office in Zurich.
The exhibition itself is quite impressive, all the models, drawings and photographs are in the book shelf. This idea is quite fitting to the main hall of ETH main building.

Lecture at INCT

On the 12th of October, thanks to my professor, I got a chance to make a lecture at Ishikawa National College of Technology, where I started studying Architecture in 1997. It was nice opportunity also for me, to remember my starting point as an architect. Although INCT is not a famous school of architecture, I met some motivated students who can be very nice architects in the future. I hope they got an idea that one senior student is struggling in Europe…

Trans 17

OMNIBUS’ research project “ALLOTMENT GARDENS IN ZURICH – THE JOKER OF PARTICIPATION -” is now published in Trans vol. 17, a architecture and urban theory magazine of ETH Zurich. This “Schrebergarten” research was Noboru’s theory work at ETH Zurich, and in collaboration with Charlotte Malterre-Barthes, we are developing our research project.
OMNIBUS is an urban research platform created in 2009 by Charlotte Malterre-Barthes and Noboru Kawagishi, two urban designers graduated with a Master of Advanced Studies from the ETH (Swiss Institute of Technology) in Zurich.
OMNIBUS is a trans-disciplinary structure, meant to be at crossroads of media, art, politics, illustration, landscape architecture and urban design. OMNIBUS believes that architecture must open up towards other disciplines and should be political and controversial whenever needed.
OMNIBUS website is also coming soon!

EM2N / Der Umbau am Bettenplatz Rosenberg, Winterthur

A renovation project by EM2N. The building used to be a super market, the space was transformed into 5 maisonette dwellings.
see project info: 126_ROS/EM2N

In the section drawing, yellow is the parts they demolished. The ground floor, used to be a big selling space (I guess), has 4m high ceiling, and it is getting an advantage for comfortable living/dining spaces, that have always top light from above.
