“Leaning from Tokyo” is a Symposium and an exhibition with Japanese and Swiss architects. There were four sessions this time on the topics of “Relationship with the City”, “Housing Typology”, “Economy and Policy”, and “Structure and Materials”. To be honest, the works of Japanese architects look like so extreme and free in terms of the shapes and typologies if you compare to Swiss works. The point of discussion was why that is possible in Japan and not in Switzerland. The discussion didn’t reach the point, but it seems that Japanese architects’ work are more small private houses and Swiss ones are more bigger and have certain impact on public sector, therefore there are more rules and restrictions for Swiss architects…
Anyway, it was nice discussion and good that more people saw the works of Japanese architects.
